Daily Dakotawitch: The Wawalak March 25, 2014

Oppression/The Wawalak, drawn from The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr

Oppression/The Wawalak equates to The Tower in traditional Tarot

Oppression appears in our lives when we feel as though things are out of control, or when there is a sense of foreboding. The Wawalak are Aboriginal Australian sister spirits who angered the Rainbow Serpent by polluting his sacred pool with a single drop of menstrual blood. The Wawalak encourage us to let go of guilt, shame, or narratives of not being good enough. You may be more aware of old messages of shame from your past at this time. Also beware of using shame and guilt as weapons against others at this time. Most of all, The Wawalak are here to tell you that a new beginning, a fresh start, is coming yur way if you are willing to welcome it!

Daily Dakotawitch: Four of Swords March 19, 2014

Four of Swords, drawn from The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr:

Swords in this deck are ruled by Isis, Egyptian Goddess of magick, medicine, motherhood, and wisdom. Swords represent creativity, passion, insight, courage.

The Four of Swords comes into our lives when it is time for us to rest and heal. We have been going full-force, and now it is time to allow our bodies and spirits to recuperate. Take time to meditate, pray, or relax. Dreams may be especially potent at this time — pay attention to what your nighttime self is telling you! Those who have been through significant emotional transitions and transformations, such as break-ups or divorces, will find healing and peace at this time. Know that resting for the next stage of your journey is the best gift you can give yourself!

Daily Dakotawitch: Six of Staves March 18, 2014

Six of Staves, drawn from The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr:

Staves (Wands) in this deck are ruled by Freyja, Norse Goddess of smithcraft, poetry, midwifery, home, and the hearth. Staves represent communication, intellectual knowledge, reason, understanding, and poetic inspiration.

The Six of Staves rides her bay horse into our day to tell us that we are entering a time of triumph. Honors, laurels, and rewards will soon be coming our way. This can mean recognition on the job, a raise or new job, acclamation for creative or intellectual work, or simply the resolution of a trying situation in our favor. The Six of Staves encourages us to accept and welcome the praise and accolades that are coming our way — it serves no one for us to play small or downplay our talents! This card also reminds us to be generous and kind with the new largesse that comes to us, and to remember all those who helped us get where we are. Most of all, this card reminds us that we have earned the good fortune that comes to us!

Daily Dakotawitch: three of Cups March 3, 2014

Three of Cups, drawn from The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr:

Cups in this deck are associated with Venus, Roman Goddess of love, sexuality, fertility. Cups are associated with Water, with its powers of intuition, divination, healing, and fertility of all kinds.

The Three of Cups dances into our day when a time of celebration of community is near. This card encourages us to find deep connections with others and with the Feminine Divine. Gatherings of women are especially favored right now — women’s circles, women’s rituals, or just a gathering of female friends around a brunch table. The three aspects of the Goddess — Maiden, Mother, and Crone — in this card also remind us of our connection with the Goddess and with the cycles of the Earth. We are coming out of a fallow or dark time into a time of dancing, joy, and sunlight. The rainbow indicates that the storm has passed and that we can welcome the returning light. Seek out spiritual community at this time, however that looks in your life. Know that there is much joy on the horizon!

Sacred Sunday: Dog March 2, 2014

Dog, drawn from the Sacred Earth Oracle by Kris Waldherr

Dog brings the energy of perseverance, loyalty, and affection for our family (of birth or of choice) into our day. Dog reminds us to surround ourselves with people who offer us loyalty, affection, and honest love without conditions. We may also be called upon today to offer that kind of unconditional love and support to others. Dog asks us to look within and contemplate who we consider our “pack” or our family, and to find a pack or tribe where we can contribute our strengths and also be strengthened by others. Seek community today!
